my first blog!

i don't know why i signed up for this..except it seems like fun to put down your thoughts and document things you've done with words and pictures and then suggest for your family and friends to read it...i figured i should jump on the bandwagon even if it's only for my personal pleasure...like a journal but not so private...

so here i am...i'm currently sitting at my new job watching the clock as we do not have a lot of work yet...we're in the beginning stages trying to get all of our technical issues worked out with the new office and now is the time to get that kind of stuff squared away...to give you a little background on the story of me finding this job which most of you have already heard but i'll go ahead and document it finally...

at the end of june we were told that US Financial would be closing its doors as AXA did not want to fund our operations in the clinical underwriting marketplace...which meant i was out of a job but had to stick around until the end of october...right away some calls were made to the sales department of our office from Ash brokerage regarding opening up a Cincinnati office and using individuals from USFL to run it...several people got hired on right away, including my boss as the office manager...i wasn't in a big hurry to go out and interview and was told that they may need some people before my time was up...

turns out they did and in mid October, myself and a few other coworkers took a trip to Fort Wayne, IN where Ash's main office is to see what they were all about...it seemed like a great fit and a couple weeks later i got my formal offer letter on the same day my job ended at USFL...so it couldn't have worked out any better...which meant i would start work and draw a severance paycheck at the same time for several weeks...can't beat that!...

i ended up with a week off work which was nice because i finally got a chance to paint my office and get that all in order...then it was off to Fort Wayne for 4 days to train with the New Business Case Managers there...it was a great trip and i learned a lot about what i would spend my day doing...basically i am going to be working directly with insurance agents who are contracted through Ash Brokerage with all of the insurance companies out there...the agents deal with the clients and complete insurance applications and then they come to me to review and gather the necessary medical records, testing, etc needed for the insurance company and then i forward it on...i get to use everything i've learned in the last 5.5 years at USFL and gain even more working on the brokerage agency side....

which brings me to now...myself and 5 other former USFL coworkers are currently working in a brand new office space in sharonville, ohio just a few miles down the road from USFL...3 more people will be joining us as soon as their jobs at USFL are done and that will be our office...in our future is more training and developing, learning and growing and it's exciting...Ash is a great company to work for and i couldn't be more thrilled...

more to come!
